Name: Leia Organa
PB: Carrie Fisher
Journal:
alderaanprincess
Age: 17 years of age
Appearance: Leia takes after Padmé in height, standing at the Star Wars equivalent of five feet one inch, but (like Anakin), she makes up for that by sheer force of will and personality. Her headstrong, outspoken nature makes her, at times, seem much taller than she truly is. Her brown hair is long, and usually kept in some sort of elaborate, braided hairstyle as per Alderaanian customs; although her trademark hairstyle was inherited from Padmé’s homeworld of Naboo. She is poised, and graceful... but has a tendency towards leaning forward, leading with her head when she’s irritated or otherwise vexed. Crossing her arms is another habit of hers.
History: Leia OrganaSolo at the Wookieepedia
Powers/Talents: Leia follows in both her mother, her father and her adopted father’s footsteps as both a shrewd politician and the potential to be an incredibly skilled Jedi. Of course, at the time I’m taking her she has NO idea of the Jedi thing. The only inkling that she was anything other than ordinary (and proof that she inherited her father’s gift) was when her caregiver Memily was going to lean against a weakened railing that overlooked a cliff; she threw a laserball at it, alerting Memily to the danger and preventing her from falling to her death.
Like her birth mother, Leia had the benefit of palace education, including the finest equipment and the best tutors. Those tutors included Arn Horada (instructing her in galactic politics and history), and Padmé’s former handmaiden, Sabé (instructing her in matters of court etiquette and diplomacy). She also accompanied her adopted father on trips to other worlds, as he wanted her to be exposed to as many experiences as possible. Her father also hired Giles Durane, a mercenary, to teach her self-defence and marksmanship, two things she took too far more easily than the etiquette, table manners and assortment of other boring things she learned at the Alderaan Select Academy for Young Ladies.
Personality: She is both her mother and father’s daughter... and her adopted father’s daughter. She is stubborn and fiery and headstrong, but not quite as much as her brother and biological father. And she’s always been so, even though as she grew older it was tempered somewhat with confidence and poise (both traits she shared with Padmé, along with a quick wit). Unlike her father and brother, she’s much less inclined towards looking for adventure or rushing into things with no thought whatsoever. Not that she doesn’t, mind you. It’s just not as prevalent with her. Of course, her headstrong, outspoken nature caused her no small amount of trouble, as well as making her a source of vexation and despair for aunts, who bemoaned her lack of ‘upper class gentility’. And her tendency towards rebellion showed itself at a very young age.
She was a tomboy, and that wasn’t something that really changed as she grew older, even though she gained the ability to appear otherwise. She’s extremely intelligent, and quick on her feet. She learned to use her childhood friend Winter’s resemblance to her to a tactical advantage (and to sneak out of the palace to get into trouble and meet boys; at least when she was younger), and to take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves. Like collecting data on the Skyhook being used to take Wookie slaves off-planet while she was being kept as a ‘guest’ of the Empire.
Even though she knew she was loved (for while the Organa family was composed in public, Bail and Breha Organa let her know just how much they loved her, and each other; as she says in Omen - "I had a very happy, stable childhood. Two parents who were very much in love with each other. I was raised on politics, but it never harmed the family. Resisting the Empire never seemed to conflict with storytime, or trips together as a family, or... Or wonderful, sunlit afternoons spent riding my thranta."**), she sometimes felt like she was an outsider to her family. That feeling wasn't something quantifiable, something she could put into exact words or point to something and say "There, that's why I feel like an outsider". She... just did. At least for her immediate family. It was far easier to put it into words when it came to her aunts. She wasn't what they felt was the proper heir to an Ancient House of Organa. And they made no effort to hide it. As she grew up she felt different, although she couldn’t quite say how, and like a part of her was missing. It was, of course; misplaced on a little planet called Tatooine, but that’s neither here nor there.
She despises slavery, and doesn’t understand how the Empire can condone it, and she wants nothing more than to make things better, to do anything she can to restore the freedoms the Empire is taking away, as well as finding their treatment of non-humans and women absolutely wretched. She grew up seeing the down side of the upper class, the arrogance and condescension towards ordinary people, and throwing expensive parties at court even though so many in the galaxy were suffering and hungry. It was when she first met Wilhuff Tarkin at the age of thirteen that she started contemplating the kind of galaxy she lived in and what she could do to change it.After she dropped a water balloon on his head "watering her plants".
And underneath all of it... she wants to make her father proud.
Shortly before she turned seventeen (and some time before the moment I take her from) she realised that her father was grooming her for more than just a seat in the Senate. She accidentally overheard a private HoloNet conversation Bail was having with fellow Senators Mon Mothma and Garm Bel Iblis. This was the first time she heard about The Alliance to Restore the Republic. That was when she promised to make him proud and do what she could to make a difference.
Why would your character be chosen? Leia will one day help free a galaxy from the oppressive rule of an Empire that sought to take away the basic freedoms of anyone they deemed unworthy. Anyone who didn’t just accept their rule. It’s kind of a big deal? She’s also a princess, daughter of the Chosen One, an astute politician... rocks a lot of awesome braided/bunned hairstyles. There are a variety of reasons she might be chosen.
How much does your character know about nonhumans? Leia grew up in a galaxy full of aliens, the heir to an ancient house of Alderaan with the education to match, and her adopted father took her with him a lot of his travels, wanting to expose her to as many experiences as possible. So she would have met and experienced and learned about a wide variety of cultures and history, both alien and humanoid.
Why this character: Leia’s always been one of my favourite characters from the original trilogy of Star Wars movies, and I think playing her would be a fun challenge. I absolutely think I’ll be able to both keep her voice and find her interesting to play after playing her a while.

4. Samples
Please either include a first-person entry that could be your character's first post on The Network, or a third-person prose or action spam sample that could be your character's reaction to arriving in Dagaz. For the other two samples, links to previous character examples are fine.
First-Person: (5+ sentences) Journal-entry style, written in the character's own voice.
I can’t believe this. You’re sadly mistaken if you think I’m having any part of marrying this... prince of yours. I didn’t marry any of the brainless twerps on Alderaan, and I’m certainly not going to change my mind here. And while I appreciate being freed from my imprisonment, this is just exchanging one cage for another.
I’d like to go home.
Third-Person: Leia swept through the corridor, her gown swishing about her legs and her hands clenched angrily into fists. She couldn’t believe this; she escaped one cage only to trade it for another. And yes, this one appeared to lack the Imperial hospitality of the first... it was STILL a cage. And she did not have the time. There was too much for her to do. She needed to return to Kashyyyk, to R2-D2. She had just begun gathering information on the Skyhook, and storing it in her R2 unit. She NEEDED to go back. The Skyhook needed to be destroyed.
And marriage. Of all the reasons they’d brought her here it had to be MARRIAGE. She had managed to escape marrying any of the gormless nobles of the Ancient Houses on Alderaan. She wasn’t going to marry a gormless noble she hadn’t even MET. Let alone one who kidnapped her to try and make it happen.
How could they expect her to just... accept this? Accept that there was nothing to be done until this... Grasp was fixed? NO. She wanted to go back. She needed to go back. She didn’t like this. And she wasn’t used to not being able to do anything.
Third Sample It was late, and Leia found herself in the glass corridor leading between the woman’s barrack’s and the men’s, watching the water outside. Having roommates wasn’t something she was accustomed to. Having other people around, yes; life as a princess of Alderaan meant there were always others nearby It was stranger NOT having someone bustling around her. Even her captivity on Kashyyyk hadn’t meant she was alone. But it was the sharing a room that was strange. She felt as though she was living in someone else’s pocket. And she didn’t like it.
Not that it mattered so much, here. There was no rebellion, not the one that was building, slowly, against the Empire. There was no need to guard her secret so closely here. There would be no meetings, no conversations involving the planning of it, even if there was a need for such guardedness.
She wanted to go home. She missed her father. She missed Winter. She missed home. There was too much she needed to do there. She couldn’t stay. She didn’t WANT to stay. What if something happened to her father? “I just want to go home,” she murmured quietly, pressing her hand against the cool glass.
